How To Decorate Your Living Room For Holiday Family Photos
Here is a post on how to decorate your living room for your holiday photographs. First and foremost there are a few things we should consider, color scheme, style of dress and decorating. The brain loves to be pleased via our visual intake. If we decorate and wear the “right” colors our photographs will look amazing and those who are viewing them will love it but have no idea way.
1. FOCUS ON THE MANTLE
You should create a festive and inviting atmosphere for your family photographs; start by adorning your mantle with lush greenery such as garlands, wreaths, and branches of pine. The easiest place I know to find garland here in Harrisburg, PA is hobby lobby These typically cost under $100 at the time of this blog for about 6 feet. You can intertwine twinkling string lights amidst the greenery for an enchanting glow. Add dimension by incorporating various-sized candles in metallic holders or glass hurricanes, creating a warm and cozy ambiance. If you use candles, then stagger the candles, the brain likes to see different heights and in likes see them stacked in set of 3.
To infuse color and texture, incorporate ornaments, stockings, and figurines in a cohesive theme, whether it’s rustic, traditional, or modern. Sprinkle faux snow or artificial snowflakes on top of the greenery for a touch of winter magic. Consider placing a statement piece, such as a decorative sign or a festive art piece, as a focal point to tie the entire arrangement together. The key is to balance visual elements while staying true to your personal style, creating a mantle that exudes warmth and holiday cheer.
I DON’T HAVE MANTLE
No problem, if you don’t have a mantle, decorate a wall and use that as your backdrop. Think of how they create Santa photographs in the mall. No problem, turn on a Christmas movie and this will offset having a dark blank screen of dead space in your photographs.
3. BENCH OR LOVE SEAT
The central balancing piece for the family should be a bench or a loveseat, depending on the size of the family. The bench should be centered in front of the mantle, you can add accessories pieces such as a throw. Put your Christmas tree on either side and create balance by placing another object to the left of the chair. If you have toddlers who wont sit still, take a look here on how I explained to photographs them.
3. COLOR SCHEME
Choose a theme and dress to match each other. This don’t mean same outfit, this means dress using the same theme. The details in both the living room as well as your clothing is essential. If you decide to dress casual than you all should all dress casual and vice versa. On the color wheel the opposite of red is green, they are called contrasting colors. You cannot go wrong with contrasting colors. If all else fails look at Christmas catalogs for ideas.
